Three jersey fronts
Baseball is unusual in that the front closure is a real decision rather than a detail, and it changes both the cost and the look.
A full button-front jersey is the traditional build: a placket the length of the body, buttons and buttonholes, and a matching collar band. A two-button or henley front gives a placket at the neck only. A pullover has no placket at all and is the simplest and quickest to produce. Decide which before sampling — it is a pattern change, not a finishing option.

Pinstripes and colour blocking
Pinstripes can be produced either by sourcing a striped fabric or by sublimating the stripe into a plain one. Sourcing a woven or knitted pinstripe gives a more traditional result; sublimating gives complete control over stripe width, spacing and colour, and means the stripe can be matched exactly between the jersey and the pants.
Whichever route, stripe alignment across the placket, the sleeve seam and the side seam has to be planned into the pattern, not corrected at sewing. Say at enquiry if stripe alignment matters to you, because it affects cutting and therefore the quotation.
Lettering
Baseball has its own decoration vocabulary and it is worth being specific about which you want.
- Tackle twill — layered fabric letters and numbers, stitched to the jersey, the traditional finish
- Embroidery — team marks, sleeve patches and cap logos
- Sublimation — all-over designs, gradients and sublimated numbers
- Screen print — flat spot-colour artwork on cotton-rich jerseys
- Custom patches — commemorative and sponsor badges
Tackle twill gives the weight and dimension associated with the sport but adds cost and production time relative to a printed number. Script chest lettering in twill is a particular case: the letters are usually cut as one connected piece rather than individually, so the artwork has to be supplied as clean vector outlines.

Rib trims and finishing
Collar bands, cuffs and waistband trims are usually knitted rib in a contrast colour, and on a traditional build they carry the team stripe. Rib is sourced to match the body colourway, so include trim colours in your artwork rather than describing them separately — a rib that is nearly the right red is more noticeable than a body that is.
