Custom Varsity Jacket Manufacturer
Linkworld International manufactures custom varsity jackets — melton wool bodies with leather or synthetic sleeves, chenille lettering, rib trims and custom linings — for streetwear brands, schools, teams and clubs.
Body and sleeves
The varsity jacket is defined by a two-material construction: a wool body with sleeves in a contrasting material. Which materials you choose changes the weight, the price and how the jacket ages more than any other decision on the garment.
Melton wool is the traditional body — dense, structured, and it holds a chenille patch without distorting. Real leather sleeves give the classic finish and weight. Synthetic leather is lighter, costs less and avoids leather sourcing entirely, which matters to brands with a stated material policy. Both sleeve options can be produced; tell us which at enquiry, because they are patterned differently.
- Melton wool body
- Genuine leather sleeves
- Synthetic and vegan leather sleeves
- All-wool and all-fabric variants
- Cotton twill and corduroy bodies
- Satin, nylon and lighter coach-style builds
Rib trims
The knitted rib at the collar, cuffs and hem is not a finishing detail on a varsity jacket — it is a visible part of the design, and the stripe pattern in it is usually where the team or brand colours live.
Rib is knitted to your colourway, including multi-stripe patterns. Stripe width, order and how many repeats appear across the collar are all specifiable. Because rib is knitted rather than cut from a piece, it has a longer lead time than the body fabric, so include the trim specification with your first artwork rather than adding it after a body sample.
Fastening and pockets
- Snap-button front, the traditional closure
- Zip front where a cleaner look is wanted
- Welt side pockets, set into the body seam
- Inside chest pocket
- Leather or synthetic pocket trims
- Custom snap heads and zip pullers
Chenille, embroidery and patches
Chenille is the finish associated with the varsity jacket — a raised, fuzzy applique letter or logo, usually with a felt backing and a chain-stitch outline. It is the correct choice for a large chest letter or a back piece and it is what buyers expect to see.
Embroidery suits smaller marks, sleeve details and the inside of the collar. Leather and woven patches give a different, more contemporary result. Most jackets combine two or three: a chenille chest letter, an embroidered sleeve mark and a woven label at the inside neck.
- Chenille letters, numbers and back pieces
- Embroidered marks and sleeve details
- Leather and woven patches
- Custom quilted or printed lining
- Woven brand labels and inside-neck branding
Lining
The lining is the part of a varsity jacket most brands underuse. A quilted lining adds warmth and structure; a printed lining in your own artwork turns the inside of the jacket into a brand surface that shows every time it is taken off. Both are straightforward to specify and neither is expensive relative to the body materials.
Weight and shipping
A wool-and-leather varsity jacket is one of the heaviest garments we produce, which affects both the shipping cost and the quantity that fits in a carton. If you are pricing a range, factor the freight per unit in early — it is a larger proportion of landed cost on a varsity jacket than on any knitwear in the same order.

Frequently asked questions
- Can you use synthetic instead of real leather sleeves?
- Yes. Synthetic is lighter, costs less and avoids leather sourcing entirely, which matters to brands with a stated material policy. The two are patterned differently, so tell us which at enquiry.
- Can the rib trims be striped in our colours?
- Yes. Rib is knitted to your colourway including multi-stripe patterns, with stripe width, order and repeats all specifiable. Knitted rib has a longer lead time than body fabric, so send the trim spec with your first artwork.
- Do you produce chenille patches?
- Yes — raised applique letters, numbers and back pieces, usually with a felt backing and a chain-stitch outline. It is the traditional finish and the right choice for a large chest letter.
- Can we have a custom printed lining?
- Yes, and it is underused. A printed or quilted lining turns the inside of the jacket into a brand surface, and it is inexpensive relative to the body materials.
- Are varsity jackets expensive to ship?
- A wool-and-leather jacket is among the heaviest garments we produce, so freight is a larger share of landed cost than on knitwear. Factor it in early when pricing a range.
