Apparel Quality Control at Linkworld International

Quality control on a custom apparel order is not one inspection at the end. It is a series of checks at the points where a defect can still be corrected cheaply. Because cutting, stitching, printing, embroidery, finishing and packing are handled in house, our team can review quality at multiple stages of production rather than only on completion.

The approved sample is the standard

Every check below is made against one reference: the sample or pre-production approval you signed off, plus the measurement chart that goes with it. Where there is no physical sample, the approved digital mockup and specification serve the same purpose.

This matters more than any individual inspection step. A garment that is beautifully made but does not match what was approved is a defect.

Fabric inspection

  • Fabric received is checked against the approved swatch and specification
  • Weight and hand checked against the agreed GSM
  • Shade checked across the lot before release to cutting
  • Visible faults, holes and stains marked off before laying up

Cutting checks

  • Marker and grain direction verified before the lay is cut
  • Cut panels checked against the pattern for size accuracy
  • Bundles ticketed by size and colourway so shade lots are not mixed
  • Notches and drill marks verified for assembly alignment

Decoration checks

Print and embroidery are checked on a test piece in the actual production fabric before the order is run, and again on the first pieces off the line.

  • Artwork matched to the approved file and placement measurements
  • Print registration, opacity and cure checked on screen print
  • Embroidery density, tension and backing checked for puckering
  • Sublimation coverage checked to the panel edge before assembly
  • Logo and crest placement measured, not judged by eye

In-line stitching checks

A supervisor inspects the first pieces off each line against the approved sample before the balance is released. Checks continue through the run rather than waiting for final inspection.

  • Stitch density and seam type against specification
  • Seam strength and bartack placement at stress points
  • Rib, collar and cuff attachment
  • Zip, drawcord and hardware function
  • Symmetry across left and right, front and back

Measurement audit

Finished garments are measured against the approved size chart within the agreed tolerance. Sizes are sampled across the run, not only at the start, because measurement drift appears mid-order as often as at the beginning.

Colour consistency

Garments are checked for shade consistency within the order — body against rib, panel against panel, and garment against garment across the run. Where a Pantone reference has been supplied, the approved lab dip or print strike-off is the reference.

Some variation between dye lots is normal in textile production. Where an order is large enough to run across lots, we flag it at quotation rather than after delivery.

Finishing, labels and packing

  • Threads trimmed, garment pressed
  • Main label, size label, care label and neck print checked for correct content and placement
  • Hangtags and branding applied to your specification
  • Garment folded and polybagged as specified
  • Carton contents verified against the packing list and size ratio
  • Carton marking checked against your shipping requirements

What we do not claim

We do not operate a testing laboratory. We do not carry out independent shrinkage, colourfastness, pilling or tensile testing on site, and we do not hold ourselves out as a certified test house.

If your buyer or retailer requires third-party laboratory testing or a specific certification, tell us at quotation stage. Testing can be arranged with an external laboratory at your cost, and we will produce the samples required for it.

Discuss your project

Send your designs or references with quantities and your destination, and we will come back with pricing, a sampling plan and a confirmed production schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Do you inspect every garment or a sample?
Final inspection covers the order to an agreed inspection level. Measurement and decoration checks are taken across sizes and through the run rather than only at the start. If you require 100 percent inspection, tell us at quotation stage so it can be scheduled and priced.
What measurement tolerance do you work to?
Tolerance is set against the approved measurement chart and depends on the garment and fabric — a stable woven holds a tighter tolerance than a heavy knit. The tolerance for your order is confirmed with the specification before bulk production begins.
Can we appoint our own third-party inspector?
Yes. Buyers are welcome to appoint an independent inspection agency for a pre-shipment inspection. Let us know at order confirmation so the inspection date can be built into the production schedule.
What happens if a defect is found after delivery?
Contact us with photographs and the affected quantity. How it is resolved depends on the defect, the specification and the order, and is dealt with case by case — we would rather be told than not.
Do you hold certifications?
We do not publish certification claims we cannot evidence. If your programme requires a specific certification or audit, raise it at quotation stage and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot meet.
