Our Custom Clothing Manufacturing Process
This is the route a custom clothing order takes through our facility, from the first enquiry to the sealed carton. Not every order runs identically — sampling in particular varies by product, quantity and how developed the design already is — but the sequence below is the one most projects follow.
1. Enquiry
Send the product, the estimated quantity, the size range, your fabric and decoration requirements and your delivery destination. The more of that arrives in the first message, the fewer rounds it takes to reach a real number.
If you are not sure what to send, we have a checklist of exactly what a manufacturer needs from you.
2. Design and tech pack review
We read your tech pack, artwork or reference garment against what is manufacturable, and come back with anything that needs resolving — placements crossing seams, artwork resolution, a colour that will not hold in the chosen print method, a fit that the specified fabric will not support.
Where no tech pack exists, we can prepare one. A design or setup fee may apply depending on the work involved.
3. Material selection
Fabric, GSM, rib, lining, thread, zips, cords and hardware are selected against the garment and its end use. We quote against the specification rather than substituting a house fabric.
4. Quotation
You receive pricing, the sampling plan and a production schedule. Payment terms are a 50 percent deposit to begin production with the remaining 50 percent due before shipping; terms may vary for certain orders and are confirmed on the quotation or proforma invoice.
5. Pattern development
The pattern is drafted from your tech pack, measurement chart or reference garment, then graded across your size run. Once a fit is approved the pattern is held, so a reorder or a second colourway returns the same shape.
6. Sample or pre-production approval
Sampling depends on the product, the quantity and how much development the design needs. For projects requiring a physical sample, one is produced and shipped for approval before bulk manufacturing. For selected low-MOQ orders, a pre-production sample or video may be prepared for approval instead.
The sampling method, cost and timeline for your project are confirmed with the quotation. Bulk production does not begin until the approval stage is signed off and the deposit is received.
7. Cutting
Fabric is relaxed, laid up and cut from the graded marker. Panels are bundled by size and colourway and ticketed so they stay together through assembly.
8. Printing and embroidery
Decoration is applied at the stage the technique requires. Sublimation and some panel prints are applied before assembly so the graphic runs through the seam; embroidery and most screen printing are applied to cut panels or finished garments depending on the placement.
Every technique is run on a test piece in the production fabric before the order is run.
9. Stitching
Assembly runs in lines with a first-off-line check against the approved sample before the balance is released.
10. Quality control
Measurement, stitching, decoration placement, colour consistency and finishing are checked against the approved sample and size chart. The full sequence is set out on our quality control page.
11. Finishing and packing
Threads trimmed, garments pressed, labels and hangtags fitted, garments folded and packed to your carton and labelling specification. The balance payment falls due before shipping.
12. Shipping
Courier or freight, depending on destination, order size and weight. Carton marking, packing lists and export documentation are prepared with the shipment. Cost and transit time are confirmed with your quotation; transit is outside our control once the shipment is handed over.

Frequently asked questions
- How long does the whole process take?
- It depends on quantity, construction, materials and customisation, and the confirmed schedule is given with your quotation. As an estimate only, many approved orders have run around 15 to 20 working days to three or four weeks after final approval and the deposit — an estimate, not a guaranteed schedule.
- Does every order need a physical sample?
- No. Sampling depends on the product, quantity and development requirements. Some orders run on a physical sample, others on an approved pre-production video or mockup. The method for your project is confirmed with the quotation.
- When do we pay?
- A 50 percent deposit is required to begin production and the remaining 50 percent is due before the order ships. Sample payments are settled upfront. Terms may vary for certain orders and are confirmed on the quotation or proforma invoice.
- Can we change the design after approval?
- Changes after approval are possible but they reset the stage they affect. A change to artwork before cutting is straightforward; a change to a pattern after cutting has begun means recutting. Tell us as early as possible and we will confirm the cost and schedule impact.
- Can you produce a reorder from a previous order?
- Yes. Approved patterns, stitch files and specifications are held, so a repeat runs from the same references. Fabric availability and dye lot are the variables to confirm at the time.
