Custom Ice Hockey Jersey Manufacturer
Linkworld International manufactures custom ice hockey jerseys — cut oversized to sit over pads, with twill or embroidered crests, shoulder yokes and per-player names and numbers — for clubs, leagues and teamwear brands.
Cut over the pads
A hockey jersey is worn over shoulder pads, elbow pads and a chest protector, so it is cut substantially larger than a normal shirt in the chest, shoulder and sleeve. The sleeve in particular is cut wide and slightly curved to clear the elbow pad without binding when the arms are forward on the stick.
That means a hockey jersey size does not correspond to a shirt size, and a player who wears a medium off the ice will not necessarily wear a medium jersey. Send us the sizing you currently use, or a reference jersey, rather than a standard shirt chart.
- Game jerseys, home and away colourways
- Practice jerseys in lighter fabric
- Goalie cut, wider and longer through the body
- Youth sizing in the same design as the senior kit
- Socks knitted to your colourway
Panels and yokes
The shoulder yoke — a contrast panel across the shoulders and upper chest — is the defining construction detail of a hockey jersey and is a seamed panel rather than a printed one on a traditional build. Sleeve stripes are likewise usually cut and sewn as separate bands rather than printed, which is what gives them their crispness.
Both can be sublimated instead, at lower cost and with more freedom in the artwork. If you want the traditional sewn construction, say so explicitly at enquiry, because the two routes price and sample very differently.
Crests and lettering
- Tackle twill crests, layered and stitched, the traditional finish
- Embroidered crests and shoulder patches
- Sublimated crests and all-over designs
- Twill or heat-applied names on a sewn nameplate
- Sleeve and shoulder numbers
- Captain and alternate patches
A removable nameplate — the name stitched to a separate strip that is then sewn to the jersey — is worth specifying if your roster changes, because it lets a jersey be reassigned without replacing the garment.
Fabric
- Polyester air-knit, the standard hockey jersey fabric
- Heavier double-knit where a more substantial jersey is wanted
- Polyester mesh for practice jerseys
- Knitted rib for collar and cuff trims
Air-knit is the fabric most hockey players will recognise by hand. It is open enough to breathe over a chest protector and heavy enough to hold a twill crest without distorting.
Fight straps and league requirements
A fight strap — a short tie stitched inside the back hem that fastens to the player's trousers — is required in some leagues and prohibited in others. It is a construction detail, so it has to be decided before the jersey is sewn.
Crest dimensions, number sizes and advertising placement are also governed by your league or federation and differ between them. Confirm your league's requirements and send them with your artwork; we produce to the specification you supply and cannot verify a rulebook on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions
- Are your jerseys cut to fit over hockey pads?
- Yes. They are cut oversized in the chest, shoulder and sleeve, with the sleeve shaped to clear an elbow pad. A hockey jersey size does not correspond to a normal shirt size — send the sizing you currently use or a reference jersey.
- Can you produce sewn shoulder yokes and sleeve stripes?
- Yes. Sewn panels give the traditional construction; the same design can also be sublimated at lower cost. The two price and sample differently, so say which you want at enquiry.
- Do you include fight straps?
- We can. It is required in some leagues and prohibited in others, and because it is stitched into the back hem it has to be decided before the jersey is sewn rather than added later.
- Can names be replaced when the roster changes?
- Specify a removable nameplate — the name stitched to a separate strip that is then attached to the jersey. It lets a jersey be reassigned without replacing the garment.
- What fabric do you use?
- Polyester air-knit is the standard, open enough to breathe over a chest protector and substantial enough to carry a twill crest without distorting. Heavier double-knit and lighter practice mesh are also available.
